Prince Salman of Saudi Arabia appointed Heir to the Throne

Painting & Patronage is delighted to learn of the appointment of HRH Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz as the new Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia following the demise on 16 June 2012 of HRH Crown Prince Naief bin Abdul Aziz.

Crown Prince Salman served as Governor of Riyadh Province for a forty-eight year tenure from 1963 until 2011 when he was appointed Minister of Defence.

Painting & Patronage, since it launch in 1999, has been honoured by the presence of Crown Prince Salman at several of its events including the 2001 launch in Saudi Arabia of the Painting and Patronage programme featuring an exhibition of paintings by HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal in 2001 as well as at an exhibition of Portuguese arts in 2007. The new Heir to the Throne also met with several Painting & Patronage delegations including the Minister of Culture of Portugal in 2007 and the President of Montenegro in 2010.
