One of Painting & Patronage’s core activities has been the fostering and promotion of artistic expression through the canvas.  Since its creation in 1999 Painting & Patronage have organised a series of high profile exhibitions across Saudi Arabia, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. These have included exhibitions featuring watercolour and oil paintings as well as photographic art works.

The President of Painting & Patronage, HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, is himself an amateur artist.  Painting & Patronage has been honoured to have exhibited Prince Khalid Al-Faisal’s paintings at many significant cultural events.  Within Saudi Arabia this has included exhibitions in Riyadh, Jeddah and Abha. A number of international exhibitions have also been held in France, Germany, Lebanon, Morocco, Portugal and the United Kingdom.

On occasions such exhibitions of HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal have taken place jointly with other well-known amateur or professional artists.  This has included exhibitions with HRH The Prince of Wales, James Hart-Dyke, Christopher Le Brun, Rita Magalhaes, Daniel Blaufucks, Alberto Carneiro, Mariana Viegas, Cristina Mateus, Edgar Martins, Mario Pires Cordeiro, Noronha da Costa, Baltazar Torres, Pedro Calapez, Valdemar Santos, Armando Alves, Joao Hogan, Manual Amado, Domingos Pinho, Mario Cesariny, Nikias Skapinakis, Joao Queiroz and Marta Ramos.

Other exhibitions have also taken place in London, Riyadh and Abha featuring the works of arts produced by the participants of the Painting & Patronage artistic summer schools and community outreach programmes.
